Dust Mites Control

What are dust mites?

Dust mites are tiny creatures that frequently make their home in places like furniture, carpets, and bedding. They are too small to be seen without a microscope or magnifying glass. They have eight legs and are not true insects, but relatives of spiders.

Dust mites feed on the flakes of skin shed by humans (and animals) every day. They prefer environments with 70 to 80% humidity, and temperatures of 68 to 77°F. Dust mites – sometimes called bed mites – are the most common cause of allergy from house dust. Dust mites live and multiply easily in warm, humid places. They die when the humidity falls below 50 percent. They are not usually found in dry climates.

Dust mite particles are often found in pillows, mattresses, carpeting and upholstered furniture. They float into the air when anyone vacuums, walks on a carpet or disturbs bedding and they settle once the disturbance is over.

Dust mites are a common cause of asthma in children.

A house does not need to be visibly dirty to trigger a dust mite allergy reaction. The particles are too tiny to be seen and often cannot be removed using normal cleaning procedures. In fact, a vigorous cleaning can make an allergic person’s symptoms worse.

What are the symptoms of dust mite allergy?

Some common dust mite allergy symptoms include sneezing, runny nose, irritated eyes, scratchy throat, coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath.

What to do before the treatment?

There is not much you need to do before the technician arrives. Strip all the linen from the beds and do NOT clean/hoover anywhere.

Treatment

Our Dust Mites control program involves inspection with specially designed kit for dust mites inspection. The test is capable of detecting the size of infestation. There is no dust mites free house, as dust mites can appear even in very clean houses, however if there are high levels of dust mites present, they can cause allergy reactions. As soon as the technician have a result from the test he will advise you if further treatment is needed. The treatment involve spraying with dust mite killing products – reducing the size of the infestation back to normal levels. The technician will spray every soft furniture as well with the bed mattresses , pillows , duvets, carpets and sofas. At the end of the service you will receive a Pest Control report.

There is drying time of 3 hours that you need to vacate the property.
